Twenty-eighteen was the 40th anniversary of the founding of Covert Action Publications, Inc. and the publication CovertAction Information Bulletin (CAIB), later to be named CovertAction Quarterly (CAQ). Former writers and publishers of CAIB and CAQ relaunched on May 1st, 2018 as CovertAction Magazine (CAM).

The relaunch team is headed up by the co-founder, publisher and writer, Louis Wolf, as well as our tried and true investigative journalists, professors, organizers, funders, proofreaders and legal representation. The expanded team includes Chris Agee, William Blum, Jack Colhoun, Michel Chossudovsky, Mark Cook, Jennifer Harbury, Bill Montross, Immanuel Ness, James Petras, Karen Ranucci, Stephanie Reich, Hobart Spalding, Victor Wallis and Melvin L. Wulf, all of whom worked with, and/or wrote for, the magazine in the past.

New talent came on board for the relaunch including Sam Alcoff, Steve Brown, Tom Burgess, Hester Eisenstein, David Giglio, Josh Klein, Maureen LaMar, Michael Locker, and Chuck Mohan, to name a few. All together, the expanded team specializes in a variety of social justice issues including intervention, war, covert action, intelligence, political economy, imperialism, labor, repression, surveillance, media, racial justice, sexism, environmentalism, and immigration.

The relaunch team also intends to, among other things, publish several books including an annual compilation of the best of CAM, an encyclopedia of espionage and a republication of CIA Diary: Inside the Company and On The Run by Philip Agee, volumes which will include Philip Agee’s iconic articles and papers.

To support this effort, you can subscribedonate and/or purchase a full back-issue set of all 78 issues that ran from 1978 to 2005. The set is undoubtedly an unparalleled resource of U.S. domestic and foreign policy history found nowhere else!

We welcome more talent, political savvy and diversity! Please send cover letter and C.V. to the Editors. We are particularly interested in writers, editors, web developers, fundraising and development associates, managers and Advisory Board members.

  1. I’d like to propose seeing a regular feature showcasing Leftist protest art in your magazine. It would add a lively new visual element that makes good sense. Why leave out an entire CONTINENT OF CONTENT and creativity that art represents?

  2. Your relaunch is vitally needed more than ever given how much less investigative journalism and critical media coverage of US foreign policy we have now, bravo!

  3. Congratulations on the relaunch of CAQ. A friend sent me a link to your article on the Sorkin film The Trial of the Chicago Seven and the much better film The Boys Who Said No!. At the recent webinar on the Sorkin flick and the Trial sponsored by the Vietnam Peace Commemoration Committee, we should have mentioned the second film among others produced back in the day on the War, the Resistance and the Movement. Your readers might want to review that webinar for some more interesting insights.

One thing, and please take this in the positive way I am offering it, I think you may be making a similar mistake to one we made at CounterSpy Magazine (one of the predecessors to CAQ) in seeking a broad spectrum of support as reflected in your Advisor Board. Being too broad, too much of a big tent, will invite self-censorship so as not to offend, as well as interference, perhaps even disinformation, by both Deep State actors and oligarchic financial interests. Just, my humble opinion. Louis Wolf, glad to see you are still kicking. Too many of our old pals are no longer with us. I would like to see your founder’s list show who is resting in peace.

I look forward to reading more CAQ.

  4. Thank you for returning!
Somewhere along the breach a great magazine appeared for a short while called PREVAILING WINDS out of Santa Barbara, CA. It would be fantastic if you could access these issues and comb them into your archives as a complementary publication.

  5. Been wondering where the left has been… typically could count on them to offer what little resistance we had to the anti-war movement but cultural marxism has crept in and I suppose they’ve found domestic foes.

  6. I would like to congratulate you on re-launching the magazine under the Covert Action Magazine moniker, particularly since its absence in the post-911 years was most unfortunate. While it appears to be more left-leaning and progressive politically than politically neutral, I was curious as whether Covert Action Magazine plans on covering aspects of 9/11 Truth as discussed by such notable researchers as David Ray Griffin that even Project Censored picked up on. The reason why I ask is because covert action inevitably requires a conspiracy to occur, but the word has become heresy among many on the Left that I see as gatekeepers to getting at the truth when it comes to things like “False Flag” operations. So, I hope you aren’t afraid to cover these kinds of things, which do in fact occur. And finally, I’m curious to know if you’re planning on getting the magazine onto shelves in cities like Austin, TX where I’m from? Needless to say, I love buying hardback copies of magazines when I can, and there’s nothing quite like what you guys put out on the newsstands these days. Thanks and all the best for a great year.

    • Great Q’s Shane. With Noam Chomsky on their board it’s unlikely they will touch the 9/11 Zionist Terrorist Charade or BLAME = Bin Laden Alleged Muslim Enemy
