The chilling video released last week of the police response inside Robb Elementary in Uvalde, TX on May 24 exposes the police. Dressed in tactical gear, officers waited over an hour to confront the gunman who killed 21 people in a senseless act of violence.

Rather than being a local problem, this is a national issue: Over and over again, videos—many of them shot by bystanders—show police killing unarmed Black people. At the same time the police are hailed as heroes required to keep the peace and bring criminals to justice. The Uvalde response and video are the latest example of how this couldn’t be further from the truth.

We are joined by Natalia Marques, writer at Peoples Dispatch, to discuss the Uvalde response and the real role of the police: to defend property, not protect people.

  1. Wait, you all don’t know that DARPA and HAARP are creating these manufactured climate crises to create civil unrest?

  2. Yup. Rachel is right. The ruling class couldn’t care less about mass shootings. They won’t be in their vicinity. As long as the working class is killing each other it provides the distraction the plutocrats bank on to bank. A story almost as old as history: divide and conquer.

  3. There’s only one explanation. The government needs a high bodycount (of kids) in these operations, so gave the local cops stand-down orders.

    • Yes, yes, yes. And though some cops wanted to act, it’s important for the public to be aware of how cowardly most men in uniform are. These days we’re not getting quite so much of the HERO garbage the media was peddling for a long time regarding police, but they’re still calling soldiers who kick in the doors of civilian homes and kill the families inside heroes.
